Hawaii Kona Le'a Organic
Coffee connoisseurs recognize 100% Kona Coffee as not “just” coffee. Kona Coffee has a Story to tell, grown under the afternoon clouds shading the coffee trees on the slopes of the Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanically active Mountains, this unique environment brings to Kona coffee a unique flavor profile, an unmatchable sweetness and delicate floral.
After Kona's dry winters, the rain comes and turn the coffee trees into beautiful flowered bushes with invading jasmine scent ...when autumn comes, the cherries that replaced the flowers are mature and harvest begins.
Only coffee grown in the North and South districts of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii can be called Kona Coffee.
This year we have chosen an organic farm Kona Le’a. A farm committed to using only organic farming methods for the health of their trees, themselves and our planet. All coffee cherry skins and parchment husk produced by the mill as by products are composted and returned to the orchards to build new soil.Only organic fertilizers and naturally occurring soil amendments areused. Green waste is trucked in for mulching and weed control as no herbicides or pesticides are used in the orchards. It is entertaining to watch the flock of tame geese roam the farm as they pleaseand have proven to greatly reduce mowing as well as provide fertilizer at no charge.KonaLe’acoffee is hand-picked, pulped, fermented, washed dried and hulled.Top grades include extra fancy, fancy, No.1 and prime.
