Origin: Guatemala, Huehuetenango

Variety: Fully-washed, sun-dried

Body: Smooth and velvety

The Huehuetenango region of Guatemala is world-renowned for its unique, delicious coffees. The mountain region’s varied elevations and microclimates provide plenty of suitable environments for growing traditional coffee varietals. Nonetheless, a lack of economic infrastructure leaves many coffee producers without the resources to secure fair compensation for their work.  

Officially incorporated in 2018, Cooperativa El Sendero aims to provide its members with economic stability by establishing reliable and consistent access to trade infrastructure. Alongside building relationships with coffee exporters, the cooperative recently constructed a warehouse for storing, roasting, and cupping their coffee crop.  

This year, in collaboration with Prisma Coffee Origins, our Director of Coffee, Gen, visited El Sendero to taste a selection of women-produced lots. Despite being a new cooperative, the coffee was superb and an outstanding expression of signature Guatemalan flavors!
