This set features three incredible coffees from two incredible producers, particularly remarkable for their success from outside of Huehuetenango.
From the innovative and passionate Celeste Fumagalli, proprietor of Finca El Aceituno, we showcase two single varietal coffees.
Anacafé 14 – Having begun planting coffee trees alongside her father when she was 4, Celeste Fumagalli is an industry star for her tireless pursuit of quality, sustainability, biodiversity, and community. This coffee is an encapsulation of that; first planted in 2020 in response to climate change, and processed naturally with an extended fermentation, Celeste achieves an aromatic, fruit forward, tangy cup that reveals a chocolatey core.
Pink Bourbon – Grown on just ten trees, this unique and highly coveted varietal features some characteristic Central American notes, displaying a decadent chocolate mousse, and is balanced by the acidity of apricot and cherry, all tied together with a round body.
And from the indomitable Sonia and Fabio Solís of Finca Las Nubes, an estate selection.
House Assemblage – Known as 'The Clouds,' Las Nubes derives its name from the ethereal mist that often envelops its lofty domain. Sonia and Fabio began climbing to the finca in the 1980s when they acquired the infrastructure-less, barren parcel. By 2001 the love and dedication they poured into the land was rewarded with their entry to Guatemala's first Cup of Excellence awarded a 96 and declared the winner. Now in their fifth decade growing, Sonia and Fabio share a soft, velvety cup of molasses, almond brittle, and candied orange.
“We firmly believe that it is the land (tierra) that births quality.... Our duty as stewards is to preserve this gift – to nurture what the land bestows upon us.” -Fabio Solís
